Duke is a very handsome, 2yr old, American Staffordshire Terrier who has a great personality. He is loyal, affectionate and devoted to his people. Inside, he is laid back and enjoys snuggling on the couch.  Duke likes to be with people and likes to go places to meet new people too.  He is very excited to meet new dogs too.  Although, Duke is a bit of a clumsy oaf and will jump right on top of them and demand that they roughhouse with him.  Duke has been introduced to many dogs at the shelter in a controlled setting. He has been able to be off leash with them after some initial training time, however we have to supervise him and consistently direct him to be gentle and respectful to the other dogs.  Due to this, Duke is best to be the only dog in his home.

Duke wiggles his whole body when he greets you. Sometimes he needs reminders not to jump up and not to pull on the leash. He is very strong and needs a strong owner. Duke is sensitive and responds well to verbal instructions once you have taken the time to train him and if you are consistent with your training. Duke loves to go on leisurely walks to smell the ground.  At nap time, Duke will curl up next to you.  He enjoys going everywhere with his person. Duke rides well in the car and gets excited to go for car rides. Inside, he likes bones to chew on and for playtime he likes to chase plastic bottles. He enjoys running around a fenced yard and has a lot of fun chasing a large plastic outdoor ball. Duke is an amazing dog who will make a great companion for someone who is strong and has time to be consistent with his training.
