Dexter is a very loyal dog who is looking for a dog savy home with someone who knows how to read dog body language. He can be a wonderful, playful dog when he is around people who understand him. Dexter is a large mixed breed dog who has Border Collie and Lab mixed in.  He is a sweet, 7yr old dog who prefers his people to be home often. He is trusted alone in the house for short periods of time and is not destructive. He walks very well on leash and he enjoys time out in the yard. He likes to play fetch and will bring the ball back to you and wait for you to throw it again. Dexter likes to carry around a toy which makes him absolutely adorable. Dexter is not used to being around children and would do best in an adult home or a home with older children who understand dog body language.

Dexter needs some training because he has times that he is overly confident and willful.  He is very obedient and sweet to a confident, patient and consistent person. He needs help to understand boundaries and to look at his human as a leader. When Dexter does not like something you are doing, he will give you a look of distrust with unsure body language and this is when you will need to step in with his training.

Dexter also would prefer to be the only dog in the home. He is a smart boy and is settling into the routine here at the shelter quickly. He listens to us very well. Give us a call with any questions about our boy.
