Skittles is a medium sized bird looking for a bird savy home. Skittles is a Sun Conure and we are not sure if Skittles is a male or female. Some sites require a gender, so we are going to call Skittles a female. We do not know her age, however Sun Conures are known to live 20-30 years and sometimes longer.   

It has been heart wrenching for us to know what Skittles has gone through. She was impounded from her home along with many other animals, due to the conditions they lived in.  When Skittles first came to us, she was lovely, friendly and cute. Not long after being here, Skittles had a very hard time dealing with the lack of attention from people. She became very stressed and frustrated during the 3 years she has had to wait at the shelter during a litigation appeal process. The good news is Skittles is now free and can be adopted. It may take her some time to trust people again and recover from being in a stressful situation. She does not want us near her cage and she will bite if you reach in or near her cage. She cannot go to a home with any children. We are hopeful with time and patience, once Skittles is out of the shelter and in a loving home, she will blossom back into the sweet bird she was.
