Your Donation Saves Lives!
We count on your donations to continue our life-saving work. As a non-profit organization with no paid staff members, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of local animals. And our efforts are paying off. Our innovative programs have been credited with reducing the number of animals who are euthanized at our local animal control facility. Our dream is that one day, no adoptable animals will be killed in area shelters. We thank you for helping us realize this dream.Visit the donation page to see where your money goes.

About Billie Bound (aka Billie Bear)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Location: Animal Advocates Rescue - always4tucker@yahoo.com (410) 880-2488

Billie Bound (the name of a particularly delicious apple) is about 3 years old and 30 pounds. Why this boy of interesting parentage – probably beagle mixed with a corkscrew-tailed dog (pug? )maybe something else thrown in – was left at the shelter will remain a mystery. He for sure deserves a loving home that will let him be the Billie Bear he is.

This is one affectionate and people-oriented boy! He loves attention and belly rubs, and comes to look for kind words. His foster parents are convinced Billie Bear is a singer at heart! He will serenade and sing ever so emotionally with very little encouragement and he loves to “talk.” Just imagine – you’re sitting in your armchair in the evening, Billie Bear comes to lay his “beary” head in your lap and starts to croon! Is there anything better than that?

Billie is blind in the left eye. It appears that he must have suffered serious trauma to his eye, which resulted in the loss of eyesight and the shrinking of the eyeball. He was seen by an opthamologist who said he is fine the way he is and nothing further needs to be done.

UPDATE:

Let me tell you a little bit more about Billie and this might give you an idea whether he might be a good fit for you.

Billie is young and very energetic - not "crazy and destructive" energetic, but he certainly needs a few good long walks on a daily basis, and a fenced-in yard would be even better.  He’s not a dog who likes going out alone.  He does want you there with.  When I try to play ball with him, he generally takes the ball back home and that's that....

He's not good dog park material because he is reacts strongly when he sees other dogs.  This is surprising since he actually lives with our four dogs and two cats and gets along very well with them.  But he does exhibit fear and uncertainty during walks and we've been working with a trainer to redirect this and desensitize him. He responds very well to training and is truly one of the smartest dogs we’ve seen. He would do well to continue working with a non-abusive trainer to gain self-confidence and social skills.

Billie also is anxious when left alone all day.  He doesn't become destructive but is all nerves. Because of this I don't think it’s fair to leave him alone for extended periods of time.

Please let me know what your situation is and what your expectations are.  Overall, he's a very affectionate and smart dog. As fosters, we have come to truly appreciate him and have learned to work with him. He poses challenges but getting over them is very rewarding because Billie gives back so much.

Check out his "Breakfast is Late" video to watch him try to convince his foster parents to get a move on.

Billie has been neutered, microchipped, and is current on vet care.  Please contact us to speak further about Billie or to fill out an adoption application 410.880.2488 ext 3 or always4tucker@yahoo.com
