If you like the alert and courageous personality of the Akita breed, then come on by and meet this handsome fellow. This is Astro, a neutered male who is 7yrs old. He is a calm, loyal companion who is very intelligent. Astro would be a good match for a confident person who will establish them self with consistent training. No first time dog owners for this smart boy and we are hoping to find a home for him that has owned his breed.  Astro has enjoyed going for walks and meeting new people.  Once he knows you he shows his sweet personality and leans on you for attention. He is happy to lay at your feet while you relax or while you work.  Astro prefers for his person to be home most of the time because he is anxious when left alone.  Astro also has an independent side and enjoys patrolling your yard.  He used to live with another dog and they got along well.    He has gotten along with dogs that are well behaved and may do better with a female dog. If you have a dog at home, you can bring them by the shelter during our animal viewing hours to see if they will be a good match.
