Shellie is a 1 year old female African Side Neck Turtle. Fully grown she will be 6-9 inches on average. African Side Neck Turtles are a bit different from other aquatic turtles such as the red eared slider. If they end up on their backs, they can right themselves using their strong neck muscles. With frequent interaction you can also socialize Shellie. Be advised that aquatic turtles, like Shellie, can carry salmonella and hands must be washed before and after handling. A large aquatic tank is needed to house Shellie. Fully grown she will require at least a 75 gallon tank, but the bigger the better. In order to maintain her body heat, she will need supplemental heat along with UVB rays so she can have optimum metabolism. Shellie is an omnivore. She loves pigging out on fresh veggies, aquatic turtle pellets, and fish. She also likes krill pellets and crickets for treats. Shellie is hoping to find a forever home that will be dedicated to her for years to come. The average lifespan for an African Side Neck Turtle can be up to or more than 50 years!
