Baxter is a 4 month old, male German Shepherd puppy. Baxter needs someone with time for puppy training. He is just starting to learn how to act around people. He is very smart, so you need to be a step ahead of him. He likes to learn and do things for a treat. Baxter was living with children where he chased them and played too rough. Some of the family was afraid of him because he had not had any training yet. In the right home, Baxter will make a lovely companion. He needs to be socialized out with new people and other dogs. He needs to be taken on walks to explore the world so he can learn to how to act around new things. He is just a baby and is ready for you to lead him. Baxter is active and likes to keep busy. He is curious and will get right into the middle of what you are doing to try to help. He likes to explore and would enjoy going on hikes with you. He would do best in a home with older children who can be confident around him and part of his training on how to act around people. He would do best in a home with someone who has had recent experience owning a German Shepherd or a similar working breed. He is learning to sit instead of putting his mouth on us. It is hard for him to stop this habit and as he gets bigger it will be very important to help Baxter remember to be gentle with people. The right training class and lots of practice and consistency at home is key.

If you have the time to put into this boy, he is very sweet when he is well exercised. He will be an amazing loyal companion ready to explore the world with you.
