Wyatt is a beautiful dog who needs someone that has experience training a dog that is cautious around new people. It would be best if you have owned an Australian Cattle Dog previously. If you have not, you can call us and ask for our Adoption Coordinator to see if your home would be a good match for Wyatt. He is not a good candidate for a first-time dog owner.

Wyatt is a 1yr old, male, Australian Cattle Dog and we do not know anything about his life prior to him arriving at our shelter.   He is very good at showing you with his body language if he is worried about something. He needs you to be a leader and let him know you have the situation under control. Wyatt is very loyal and very obedient. He knows sit, down, paw and stay. He will do anything you say…..except he runs from the toe nail clippers. :0)  However, he is so smart and trainable that in under 5 minutes, we were able to desensitize him enough that he allowed us to touch him with the clippers and hold his feet. What a smart dog! We are going slow to remind him he can trust us.  If you are dog savvy, you will not have a problem communicating with Wyatt.  He is a thinker and wants a job to perform all day. He will need daily exercise to tire out his mind. He likes to play fetch and likes to learn new tricks. With other dogs, it depends on the pushiness of the other dog. Wyatt needs time to get to know them first before he plays. He is nervous at first and does not want a new dog running right up to him.  If you have a dog at home, you can bring them by to see if Wyatt will be comfortable with them.  

If you have the time and you can be a step ahead of Wyatt, he will make a lovely loyal companion who will always be by your side. His working instincts are strong.
