Your Donation Saves Lives!
We count on your donations to continue our life-saving work. As a non-profit organization with no paid staff members, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of local animals. And our efforts are paying off. Our innovative programs have been credited with reducing the number of animals who are euthanized at our local animal control facility. Our dream is that one day, no adoptable animals will be killed in area shelters. We thank you for helping us realize this dream.Visit the donation page to see where your money goes.

About Mabel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 19 Years 5 Months (best estimate)
Do NOT contact the shelter--Mabel is in a foster home. Use the the contact info directly above or below. Mabel is a 1-2 year-old Bluetick Coonhound with gorgeous markings. She is good with other dogs, and living in a foster home with 3 males. She is housetrained and not destructive, if she has close supervision. She is crate-trained, but can be vocal when crated and alone, so won’t work in an apartment. Crating at night in your bedroom would work fine, if she knows she isn't by herself.

Her ideal home is one with a fenced yard and a comfortable couch. She likes to exercise twice daily, and then she sleeps like a baby the rest of the day, snoring with an occasional drool, on her favorite chair.

Mabel has a pleasing bay like many hounds, and she likes to use it during play. She loves to play (pretty vigorously) with other dogs, and would do best in a home with another young dog, preferably a boy, who is medium to large in size so she doesn't accidently hurt a small dog with her enthusiastic play.

Mabel is cautious and reserved at first when meeting new people, which is true to her breed. She quickly warms up and then acts like her goofy self----She also gives a serious bark/bay when strangers approach her yard. For these reasons, we think she would be best in a home without the activity and frequent visitors of a home with young kids. Please contact always4tucker@yahoo.com or 410.880.2488 ext #3.
